Chapter
4
John is taken into heaven and he sees someone sitting on
a throne.
The one sitting on the throne is decorated with the most
beautiful and expensive jewellery denoting prosperity.
In heaven there are twenty four elders around the throne
denoting twenty four people who have already made it to the presence of God and
have been crowned as overcomers. These are twelve that walked with God before
Christ and twelve that walked with Christ throughout his life on earth.
He who sits on the throne has full control and power over
his enemies denoted by the lighting and thunder
There are also four living creatures that have meditated
on the Word of God in totality and are therefore knowledgeable in it depicted
by the sea of glass.
- The first one looks like a lion depicting that he has authority
- The second one looks like a bull depicting that he is financially stable
- The third one looks like man which means that is an intellectual
- The last one looks like an eagle which means that he is visionary.
They all have six wings meaning they have had entry into
all the seven heavens but are not resident yet and eyes all over their bodies
meaning they are introspective (self-examining) and extrospective (examining
that is outside yourself)
From all the knowledge they have they have come to only
one conclusion which is that God who was in the beginning is still around
(even through Christ in us) and He is coming
But when they give thanks to God who lives forever the
twenty four elders in heaven throw down the crowns on their heads and bow
before God and say
"Worthy
are you, our Lord and God, the Holy One, to receive the glory, the honor, and
the power, for you created all things, and because of your desire they existed,
and were created!"
